Health & Safety in the workplace

C.O.S.H.H. - 2002 (as amended)
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 Regulations place duties on employers to assess the potential health hazards to employees from tasks involving any substances.

We can help your company have robust, suitable and sufficient Risk Assessments in place to satisfy legislative requirements. We can review and audit current assessments and provide feedback, or help compile new assessments tailored to your specific requirements, if for example you employ young workers or other at risk groups.


Risk Assessments
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 state that it is the duty of every employer to assess the risks to the worker of any actions undertaken at work and to minimise that risk.

Furthermore, if a company has 5 or more employees, these must be also recorded and communicated to the workforce. Again, we can review and audit current assessments and provide feedback, or help compile new assessments tailored to your requirements


Manual Handling
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992; As a quarter of all industrial accidents are defined as having their cause in manual handling, these regulations are designed to cut down on the number of accidents caused by manual Handling.


Noise
Exposure to noise at high or sustained levels can lead to both temporary and permanent loss of hearing. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 place duties on employers to minimise the noise at source that workers may be exposed to.

We can provide guidance in a variety of means by which legislative compliance can be achieved, including advice on high noise areas, correct Hearing Protection types and training in it's correct use.


Vibration / Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome
Use of vibration producing tools can result in exposure to potentially damaging levels of vibration to workers, this can lead to Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome or other Musculo-Skeletal disorders. The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 sets out duties on employers to recognise, manage and minimise this risk.

We can provide guidance in the monitoring of vibration produced, record keeping of exposure and care of tools. We can provide training in the awareness of vibration and the simple steps that can be taken to minimise risk. Any instruction / training required can be carried out at the workplace with practical demonstrations and examples.
